Steel King Tees Off to Aid Child Safety Programs

This June, six members of Steel King’s leadership team represented the company in the 50th Annual Sky Club Greater Plover Open charity golf tournament. The company also sponsored a hole at the tournament. The event raised $10,000 for longtime charitable partner Stevens Point Child Safety Center, which will go towards supporting programs such as providing car seats for low-income families and bike helmet giveaways.
Among the six was Jay Anderson, President of Steel King, and son of Steel King co-founder Fred Anderson. Fred helped originate the idea for the community golf event along with the owners of the Sky Club supper club, the long-time hosts of the event, at the Sky Club restaurant in 1969. Jay attended the first Greater Plover Open in 1970 and has participated in the event many times since then.
“Steel King is proud to be a founding partner of such a great event that brings the Stevens Point and Plover business communities together each year”, said Anderson. “Safety is extremely important to us as a company, and we’re thrilled to be a long-time contributor to an organization that works to provide equipment to keep children in Portage County safe as well.
